Active learning and appreciative environments stimulate the full potential of our students.
A single philosophy permeates the entire educational project; however, the school is comprised of four different schools, each specifically designed to respond to the needs of different age groups.
Each school is coordinated jointly by the academic and human development departments in order to fulfill -from a balance between the two perspectives- our mission of forming academically rigorous, emotionally stable, autonomous and responsible individuals.
Learning as an “active” process leads to meaningful experiences for each student as they interact directly with people, objects, ideas and events.
These experiences become important learning when students engage in activities such as manipulating objects, building with different materials, experimenting, conversing, imagining and telling stories, creating role-plays, etc.
Direct and experiential participation is the basis for drawing conclusions and appropriating, understanding and enjoying the things they do every day. The student is then the center of the teaching processes since he/she is the one who uses his/her initiative to learn independently and with others.
Active Learning
Through active learning we encourage full development, as each student has the possibility to choose, express ideas, make plans and projects from their own interests, choose, make decisions, speak and reflect on each of their actions.
Musical Learning
Musical learning was one of the purposes that gave rise to Los Alcaparros because it is an integrating experience that links academic education with training. It is an exceptional example of active learning because music only sounds and can be heard when it is performed with instruments or voice; that is, music exists when it is made.
Active learning, horizontal relationships between students and teachers and appreciative learning environments stimulate the maximum potential of our students.
Projects
A question opens the door to a great project, and every project is the perfect way to discover our students’ talents and motivations.
High Scope
We guide students to explore, interact, and exercise their creative imaginations through purposeful play.
Responsive Classroom
With this methodology we generate positive and safe environments for students to become excited about new knowledge, establish patterns of collaboration and assertive ways of relating
“Here, from the first moment of the day, the scenario of coexistence is opened in an intentional way, not by chance, the situation is created to set this tone.”
-Adriana Casas, Primary Coordinator
